Keeping a furnished room usable

Water ran into furnished common rooms, through the carpet and pad and under furniture that stayed. We did not clear the rooms and start over. We moved what had to move, extracted the water from the carpet with the furniture still in place, and then set air movers along the wet carpet path and at the windows. A dehumidifier ran in the same room, so the air stayed dry too.

Taking everything out is slower and is not always needed. Extract first, dry around the furniture, then decide. If the floor still needed work after it was dry, that was the rebuild. If it did not, the room was already a room again.
