Insurance

Can I choose my own restoration contractor in Texas?

Yes. You pick who rebuilds. The insurance company's vendor list is optional. We are not on those programs. See the program contractors page. Texas Department of Insurance consumer tips: getting your claim paid · TDI B-0017-17.

Does PRC negotiate my insurance claim?

No. We are a restoration contractor. We document the damage, write a repair scope, and rebuild. We don't settle the claim or decide what the policy covers. If you need someone licensed to represent you on the claim, that's a public adjuster — a different license. See contractor versus public adjuster.

Should I file a claim before you look at the damage?

If the house is still taking on water or isn't secure, call us first. Filing on a stain nobody has measured can start the file too small. Call 817-632-2522.

What happens if additional damage appears after demolition?

We photograph it, document the additional work, and give that documentation to you and the adjuster. Coverage is still the carrier's decision.

Water

What is a moisture map?

Meter readings on floors, walls, and cabinets, with photos. It shows where the water went — often past the stain you can see. Details are on the drying page.

Can cabinets be dried?

Sometimes. Toe-kicks, sides, and the floor under them have to be read. If they won't hit dry standard, they come out. We don't guess from a photo of a stain.

Can hardwood floors be saved?

Sometimes, if they can be dried in place and stay flat. If they cup and stay wet underneath, they don't. Readings decide, not a calendar date.

What is a dry standard?

The moisture content we're drying to, compared with unaffected material in the same house. Equipment stays until meters say it's there — not until a set number of days.

Does fire-department water need to be dried?

Yes. Suppression water is a water loss. We extract, map moisture, and dry those assemblies before reconstruction.

Fire

What happens after a house fire?

Board-up and make it safe. Then document flame, heat, soot, HVAC, and suppression water. Cleaning vs replacement is decided from that, not from the burned room alone.

Is smoke damage limited to the burned room?

Usually not. If the HVAC operated during or after the fire, the system should be evaluated for fire and smoke impact rather than assumed unaffected.

Is board-up permanent?

No. Board-up and tarps close the house. Reconstruction is the permanent repair.

What happens when a car hits my house?

We board it up, then look at framing, shear, veneer, utilities, and the slab edge. A brick patch on a moved wall fails again. See vehicle impact repair.

Reconstruction

When can reconstruction start?

After the house is stable and dry enough. We don't hang finishes on a wet or charred assembly.

Does a ceiling stain mean the roof is leaking?

It means water finished there. The path is usually roof, flashing, or attic first. We follow it up, then dry the room.

Do you work inside occupied commercial buildings?

Yes. Occupied offices, retail, gyms, and multifamily in Fort Worth and DFW. Containment, after-hours work, tenants stay when they can. See the commercial page. Call 817-632-2522.

Cost

Do you charge to look at an emergency?

Call 817-632-2522. Emergencies get dispatched. Price follows what we see on site — we don't quote a rebuild from a photo of a stain. Here's what actually moves the price: what drives restoration cost.

What does an estimate review include?

A technical comparison of written quantities, materials, and restoration process to the house. You keep a written report. We don't negotiate the claim. See Estimate Review.
