Water at the air handler in the attic, through the ceiling, into an occupied house — hall, closet, living, kitchen path.

What we found

  • Attic at the air handler was wet. Insulation pulled. Air mover on the decking.
  • Thermal camera on the ceiling below — heat signature where the attic water sat. Not a stain-guess.
  • Hall and closet got air. Carpet in the closet pulled where it was wet. Clothes stayed.
  • Living room and kitchen path had equipment on the floor. TV on. House occupied.

Result

Drying ran with people in the house. Attic, ceiling, hall, and closet on the same map.

Following the water down from the attic

The water started in the attic at the air handler and came down through the ceiling into an occupied house. Looking for stains would have missed some of it. So we worked in the order the water traveled.

In the attic we pulled the wet insulation and put an air mover on the decking. From below, the thermal camera showed where the attic water had sat on the ceiling. The hall and the closet got air, and the closet carpet was pulled where it was wet. The clothes stayed. The living room and kitchen path had equipment on the floor, and the TV stayed on.
