What we found

  • Studs alligator-charred. Drywall gone. The fire used the wall cavity.
  • Floor framing burned through. You can look down into the bath from the room above.
  • Rafters and roof deck charred. Heat high enough to melt plastic in the attic.
  • Headers and joist cavities took heat and soot. Sound wood and compromised wood are not the same list.
