What we found

  • Ceiling assembly failed into the bedroom. Insulation and drywall on the bed and floor.
  • Wall cavity opened in an adjacent room so we could dry what the finish was hiding.
  • HEPA air scrubber in the room while demo and drying ran.

Hazardous debris handled, cavity dried, reconstruction scoped from what the ceiling actually did.

What a ceiling failure leaves behind

When a ceiling comes down, the room is only part of the problem. Wet insulation and drywall landed on the bed and the floor, the cavity above was open, and the room still had furniture and belongings in it.

We started by taking out what had fallen and opening what had failed so we could see it. In the next room we opened a wall cavity as well, because the finish was hiding wet material there. With the damage open to the air, the air movers and dehumidifier could dry it directly instead of drying over it.

Only after that was the rebuild scoped, from what the ceiling actually did and not from what it looked like on day one.
